We believe that a child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances and therefore every child deserves the best possible start in life in order to fulfil their potential.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

We follow the EYFS, a government framework for all childcare providers, and offer a wide range of stimulating, interesting and educational activities for children to become involved in. Children learn through a balance of play and structured activities.

We aim to promote the knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes that children will need to achieve the Early Learning Goals by the end of the Foundation Stage in a happy, safe and secure environment. There are 7 prime and specific areas of learning:

  1. Communication and Languageeducation
  2. Physical Development
  3. Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  1. Literacy
  2. Mathematics
  3. Understanding the World
  4. Expressive Arts and Design

Working in Partnership with Parents

We observe, listen and assess children in our care and record their achievements and progress in each area of learning in their personal Learning Journey folder. These help us to identify individual development needs and to plan activities to stimulate and move children forward.

We regularly ask parents to update us on their child’s current interests and developments at home so that we can tailor our planning to meet your child’s individual preferences.

Parents are also invited to attend Parent Evenings to give you the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress in more detail.
