Our Team
Our experienced and highly qualified staff ensure that every day is fun, interesting and rewarding at Shanklin Day Nursery.
All our staff are friendly, approachable, caring and strive to provide the best possible care for our children. Our team members are qualified to a minimum Level 3 (and above) in a relevant early years and childcare qualification. Our apprentices and assistants are all working towards a level 3 qualification.
All of our staff are DBS checked. We ensure that our staff is trained in Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding Children, Prevent COVID-19 and we offer continuous professional development to enable staff to learn and develop throughout their employment with us.
Geraldine has a wealth of childcare experience; with over 30 years’ experience working as a qualified Nurse and Midwifery Sister in the Leicester communities and being a mum of 4 children. She opened Shanklin Day Nursery in 1994, working as Nursery Manager, and has continued her inspiring role as Director of the nursery.

Siobhan is an experienced Teacher with over 15 years’ experience working with children of all ages and she is a mum. She has been judged as an ‘outstanding’ teacher by OFSTED and has achieved her Early Years Professional Status. Siobhan has a specialist focus and experience in music and performing arts.
Qualifications include:
- Early Years Professional Status
- PGCE in Education and Teaching (QTS)
- BA(Hons) in Education and Music (2:1)
- Paediatric First Aid
- Safeguarding Children (Nominated Safeguarding Officer)
- Food Safety
- Working with babies and children under 2 years specialist training
- Get going with communication
- Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)
- Supporting Well-being in the Early Years

Melissa is an experienced Early Years Practitioner and Manager, and she completed her degree at Chester University graduating with honours. Melissa has specialist training in Special Needs Education and safeguarding children. Melissa is an excellent practitioner, supporting preschool children to be ready for school and leading our Nursery reading scheme.
Qualifications include:
- BA(Hons) in International Development Studies and Sociology (2:1)
- Advanced Safeguarding Lead (nominated)
- Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)
